The positions of this spread
- The situation: The situation as it stands, stripped down to its core.
- What you are not seeing: A blind spot: something true about the situation that you have not fully noticed.
- What clouds your judgment: The fear, assumption or outside noise that makes it hard to think straight.
- What helps you see clearly: What supports clear thinking, whether a person, a habit or a quality in you.
- Your next step: One small, concrete next step that moves you forward.
When to use the clarity spread
Reach for it when you are overthinking, when someone is sending mixed signals, when too many people have given you their opinion, or after news that knocked you off balance. It is especially useful before a decision, when you can feel that something needs to change but cannot yet say what the real question is. Once the question is clear, the decision tarot spread can help you weigh the options.
Before you draw
Spend two minutes writing down everything on your mind about the situation, as fast as you can. Then cross out what is a guess and circle what is a fact. Ask your question about what is left, and keep it in the present tense, such as "What is really going on with my job?" This short exercise does part of the work before you shuffle, and it makes the blind spot in position 2 much easier to recognize when it appears.
How to read it
- Read card 3 first. Naming what clouds your judgment often makes the rest of the spread easier to see. A Swords card here usually means worry or a story you keep telling yourself. A Pentacles card can mean practical pressure, such as time or obligations.
- Treat cards 2 and 3 as a pair. If they share a suit, the confusion and the missing piece live in the same area of your life, and solving one helps with the other.
- Watch for the Moon. If the Moon appears anywhere, take it as a sign to slow down and check facts before acting. The Hermit in position 4 suggests time alone will help more than more advice.
- Keep card 5 small. If it points to something big, break it down into what you can do in the next two days. Clarity tends to come from action, not from waiting for certainty.
- Write the situation in one sentence before you draw, and again after. Compare the two sentences in your journal. The difference between them is often the clarity you were looking for.

The full 78-card deck is shuffled in your browser with a cryptographic random generator, then spread face down for you to choose from. How the readings work explains the shuffle, reversals and where the meanings come from.
Questions
What is a clarity tarot spread?
A layout designed for confusion. Instead of predicting an outcome, it shows the situation, your blind spot, what clouds your thinking, what helps and a next step.
How many cards are in a clarity tarot spread?
This one uses five cards. That is enough to separate the facts from the fog without adding more to think about.
What if one card in the reading confuses me?
Read it next to card 4, which shows what helps you see clearly, and look up its full meaning. If it still feels unclear, write down your first impression and come back to it the next day.
Is the clarity spread the same as a decision spread?
No. The clarity spread helps you understand a situation. A decision spread compares two or more options once you know what you are choosing between.
