Life Path Number Calculator
Enter your date of birth to find your life path number, the most important number in numerology. The calculator reduces the month, day and year separately, keeps master numbers and shows every step.
What is a life path number?
Your life path number comes from your full date of birth. Numerologists read it as the main theme of your life: the kind of lessons you meet, the strengths you grow into and the way you tend to move through the world. Because your birth date never changes, it is seen as the most stable number in your chart.
There are twelve possible results: 1 to 9, plus the master numbers 11, 22 and 33.
The life path is also the base for other tools on this site: the angel number calculator repeats it, and the karmic debt calculator checks the sums that lead to it.
How do you calculate your life path number?
- Write your birth date as month, day and year.
- Reduce each part on its own by adding its digits until one digit is left. Keep 11, 22 or 33 if they appear.
- Add the three results together.
- Reduce that total the same way, again keeping 11, 22 or 33.
Reducing each part first is the method most numerologists teach, because it lets master numbers in the month or day show up. Adding every digit in one line usually gives the same single digit, but it can hide a master number along the way.
Worked example: July 15, 1985
Month: July is the 7th month, so 7.
Day: 15 becomes 1 + 5 = 6.
Year: 1985 becomes 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 23, then 2 + 3 = 5.
Total: 7 + 6 + 5 = 18, then 1 + 8 = 9.
Someone born on July 15, 1985 has life path 9, the path of compassion and completion.
Worked example with a master number: November 2, 1980
Month: November is 11, a master number, so it stays 11.
Day: 2 stays 2.
Year: 1980 becomes 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 18, then 1 + 8 = 9.
Total: 11 + 2 + 9 = 22. That is a master number, so it is not reduced.
Someone born on November 2, 1980 has life path 22, the master builder.

Questions
What is my life path number?
Reduce your birth month, day and year separately to single digits (keeping 11, 22 and 33), add them, and reduce the total. The calculator above does it for you and shows each step.
What is the rarest life path number?
With this method, 33 is the rarest: we counted every date from 1900 to 2099 and only 393 of 73,049 give life path 33. Life path 22 comes next with 2,463 dates.
Can my life path number change?
No. It comes from your date of birth, so it stays the same all your life. Your personal year number is the one that changes every year.
