This free love tarot card reading uses five cards: you, the other person, the connection, what stands in the way and where it is heading.

The five positions
- You: how you show up in this relationship right now.
- The other person: how they show up, as far as the cards can tell. If you are single, read it as the kind of person or energy coming toward you.
- The connection: what is really happening between you.
- What stands in the way: the obstacle, inside or outside.
- Where it is heading: the direction, if nothing changes.
Each card is read with its love meaning, not only its general meaning.
A note on love readings
The cards can help you see your own feelings more clearly. They cannot read another person's mind, and they should never be the reason to stay in a relationship that hurts you. For a single question about love, the yes or no tarot works too.
How the draw works
The full 78-card deck is shuffled in your browser with a cryptographic random generator, then spread face down for you to choose from. How the readings work explains the shuffle, reversals and where the meanings come from.
The classic love cards
Some cards come up again and again in love readings. Here is what each one says upright, from the same texts the reading uses. In a five-card love spread, the chance that a given card such as the Lovers appears is 5 in 78 (6.4%), and the chance of at least one Cups card, the suit of feelings, is 63.9% (1 minus C(64,5)/C(78,5)).
| Card | In love, upright |
|---|---|
| The Lovers | A real choice of the heart, made with open eyes. |
| Two of Cups | Mutual attraction, two people meeting as equals. |
| Ten of Cups | Lasting contentment and a shared sense of home. |
| Ace of Cups | A new feeling, or love offered freely. |
| The Empress | Warmth, affection and being cared for. |
| The Sun | Easy joy; nothing hidden between you. |
| Four of Wands | Celebration, commitment, a step made official. |
| Three of Swords | Hurt that needs to be spoken, not buried. |
| Five of Cups | Grief over what went wrong, with something still standing. |
| The Devil | A pull that may be more habit than love. |
Hard cards in a love reading name a problem to face, not a sentence: the Three of Swords is hurt that needs words, the Devil is a pattern you can step out of. Compare the "You" and "The other person" cards first: the story of your reading tells you whether the energy between you is balanced.
Questions
Can a love tarot reading tell me if he or she loves me?
It can show you the energy of the connection and how the other person might feel, read through the cards' traditional meanings. It cannot read another person's mind, so treat it as a mirror, not as proof. The clearest way to learn how someone feels is still to talk with them.
Which tarot cards are best for love?
The Lovers, the Two of Cups, the Ten of Cups, the Ace of Cups, the Empress and the Sun are the classic love cards.
